Atelier Nousagi

I build vessels by hand to let flowers and bonsai tell their own silent stories.
About
I am a ceramic artist based in Germany, working primarily with handbuilt porcelain and stoneware. My pieces emerge from a dialogue with the clay, shaped by hand.
My path to ceramics was not linear. From an early age, I was drawn to art and craft, exploring techniques from painting to goldsmithing. At 16, I first worked with clay at art school. Over the past two decades, I have deepened my practice through courses and artist residencies in Germany, Italy, Spain and Japan. Though I have no formal training as a ceramicist, these experiences have shaped my own distinct approach to the material.
What drives my work is the freedom to challenge familiar forms and expectations. I am drawn to contrasts, organic shapes and the tension between control and surrender. Each piece carries the traces of its making.
I create ikebana vases and bonsai pots, inspired by my love for flowers and the Japanese aesthetic of wabi-sabi. For me, a vessel is more than functional. It frames a plant, enhances its presence and becomes part of a living composition.
Japanese ceramic art has profoundly influenced my perspective. Through multiple visits to Japan, I have come to appreciate its deep connection to nature, material and the beauty of imperfection. This philosophy lives in my work.
Every piece takes several weeks from shaping to final firing. I work slowly, intentionally, allowing the clay its own time and voice.
